A Registered Nurse has joined the Medical/Solar Project Team for The Raktrul Foundation

"Hello this is Sharon,

Some family and friends have asked: "Why would a 62 year old nurse leave her life at the beach in Florida to travel on a mission to Tibet?" The answer is simply, that this is a journey of the heart. I want to give back in some small way to a country and culture that has blessed my life so richly through authentic teachers and profound teachings."

" At present, 1 in 5 infants in rural areas of Tibet die before their 2nd birthday (I am a grandmother to 6 beautiful and healthy grandchildren). Maternal mortality is 3,000 out of every 100,000 live births. One cause of newborn and maternal mortality is infection. A simple clean delivery kit containing a piece of soap, 2 pieces of clean yarn, a razor blade, and plastic drop cloth have been found to significantly decrease the death rate from infection for newborns and their mothers. The need is so great. I want to help in any way I can. I hope you will join me in any way you are able." Sharon Lang

The Raktrul Foundation extends warm thanks to the Lion's Club for their generous donation of 800 pairs of eyeglasses. The Medical/Solar Project has also received 150,000 acupuncture needles from Lhasa/OMS.
